DR. H. ALEX SPRATT is fellowship trained in glaucoma. He specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, cataract and general Ophthalmology.
Dr. Spratt originally completed his ophthalmology training and glaucoma clinical fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital, the oldest and largest eye hospital in world. In 2013, he completed a second fellowship in glaucoma and was appointed to the Faculty at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Spratt has performed hundreds of glaucoma surgeries and is well versed in handling complex glaucoma cases. During his career, Dr. Spratt has trained ophthalmology residents affiliated with Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Nova Southeastern University and Larkin Community Hospital in Miami. Furthermore, he has been instrumental in training ophthalmologists around the world, including West Africa and South Asia.
Most recently, Dr. Spratt worked in Ghana and Nepal, leading research efforts and raising surgical standards. Additionally, he has made several contributions in the field of ophthalmology through research. In 2009 Dr. Spratt won a national award to study patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome at the St John Hospital in Jerusalem. At Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, he was involved in a prospective investigation of intravitreal bevacizumab in the treatment of refractory neovascular glaucoma. Dr. Spratt is a member of the American Glaucoma Society, the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
