Dr. Anil Vedula is a fellowship trained corneal surgeon who specializes in cataract and refractive surgery, medical and surgical treatments of corneal diseases, and general ophthalmology.

As an undergraduate, Dr. Vedula attended Duke University, where he was awarded the prestigious A.B. Duke Memorial Scholarship to study mathematics and physics, given to only 15 graduating high school seniors nationally. While at Duke, he received the Faculty Scholar Award, the highest award given by the faculty, and graduated summa cum laude. He went on to earn his medical degree from Yale School of Medicine, one of the nation’s most prestigious medical schools, graduating at the top of his class. 

Dr. Vedula completed his internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, New York, where he worked with Dr. David Abramson, studying ocular oncology. He then completed his residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the nation’s top residency program and eye hospital.

He stayed at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute completing a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery. While there, he performed novel research on nanoparticular technology and endothelial cell transplantation. He studied several new laser vision correction platforms and worked on advancing corneal transplantation techniques with novel injectors. 

Dr. Vedula has published articles in several medical journals and is a co-author of various book chapters. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Cornea Society. He is currently a volunteer assistant professor at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where he teaches clinical and surgical ophthalmology to residents and fellows.
